What you’ll do

As a backend developer at Klup, you will play a key role in stabilizing and scaling our platform to support our growing community. Collaboration is essential, and you will work closely with the DevOps team to enable seamless deployments and deliver a smooth user experience. Your contributions will directly impact the scalability of our platform, allowing Klup to grow while maintaining performance.

✅ Develop and enhance our existing Java Spring Boot backend.
✅ Own and deliver features, bug fixes, improvements, and refactors from conception to deployment.
✅ Architect and manage robust data interactions with MySQL or similar relational databases.
✅ Manage data interactions with MySQL or similar relational databases.
✅ Collaborate using Git/GitHub for organized, maintainable code.
✅ Ensure long-term stability and reliability by writing comprehensive tests (unit, integration, etc.).
✅ Proactively identify and address technical debt and areas for system improvement.

What we’re looking for

🔹 3+ years of experience with Java/Spring Boot (Java 17).
🌍 Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently design and implement solutions.
🔹 Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with an ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
📊 Proficiency in designing, querying, and maintaining relational databases (e.g., MariaDB, MySQL).
🔹 Solid Git/GitHub knowledge for version control.
🚀 A startup mindset—you love autonomy and solving real problems.
🔹 A proactive, self-starter mindset: you take initiative, manage your tasks effectively, and require minimal oversight to deliver high-quality work.
💡 Ability and eager to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.

Some extra bonuspoints if you have

• DevOps experience (Azure preferred, others a plus) to build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and understanding their use cases.
• Previous success in a startup environment, demonstrating adaptability.
• Familiarity with modern architectural patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture).
